Today the news is good
for unsalvageable criminals.
The executioner says no.
No more killing as punishment.

Jesus said no, so I say
unto you, fuck this.
I will no longer lessen
my life for the state.
I will no longer lose my hair
for the state,
lose sleep, lose weight,
lose my health for the state.
I refuse the PTSD
of state-sponsored murder.
I will no longer lose my vision
for a Bronze Age literary vision.
